Pete Shuttleworth

ABOUT

Pete was born in Kerala, South India. His earliest memories are sun drenched and full of colour. These pivotal moments are now indistinct and dream-like.

Pete did his Foundation at the London College of Printing. He then went to Goldsmiths, receiving a First Class BA(hons) in Fine Art Textiles.

Pete became a Runner in the Film Industry and worked for Mike Leigh, working on his film ‘Naked’. After he started making short films and supporting other film-makers. This work brought him to the attention of Ridley Scott’s team. Pete was head hunted to join RSA London and Black Dog films as a Producer. After 5 years filming around the world, Pete set up his own production co. which won national and international awards for the quality of its creative work and support of the film community.

Pete then returned to making his own Artwork, responding to the fragility of the natural world and how we remember key moments in our lives. He lives and prints in Brighton by the sea, often accompanied by his opinionated Irish Terrier.

WORK V02

Pete Shuttleworth’s work expresses the simple yearning of a responsible adult to return to the golden moments of childhood.

Pete hand-prints his screen prints, often using 10-15 layers of carefully registered transparent colour. These are physically crafted expressions of his digital drawings. Pete uses colour to express his emotions, combining naturalistic colour palettes with the personal colours of his memories. Pete makes digital Charcoal drawings, allowing his intentions to change as he works. Marks are laid down and then erased, creating layered tones that combine.

In February 2026 Pete was elected as an ARE by the Royal Society of Printmakers. He has had a solo exhibition in London in 2025, and has been recently selected for group shows in Japan, London, and China.
